What Is a Muse Design Award? The Story Behind OISIZ
Most water bottles sit on a shelf. This one won an award.
You've probably seen the phrase "award-winning" thrown around so many times it's started to lose meaning. Slapped on everything from shampoo to kitchen knives.
So when we tell you the OISIZ Vic-Wing Bottle won a Muse Design Award, we want to actually tell you what that means — and why we think it matters.
What Is the Muse Design Award?
The Muse Design Award is an international design competition organized by the International Awards Associate (IAA). It celebrates design that doesn't just look good, but solves something.
Unlike aesthetic-only contests, Muse evaluates products across three dimensions:
- Functionality — Does it actually work, and work well?
- Innovation — Does it solve a problem in a new or smarter way?
- Aesthetic coherence — Does the design communicate what the product is?
Judges are design professionals, brand strategists, and product engineers from across the industry. It's not a popularity contest. You can't vote your way to the top.
Why the Vic-Wing Bottle Won
The Vic-Wing Bottle wasn't designed to win awards. It was designed to solve a frustration.
Here's the thing about most water bottles: you either get a straw lid or a direct-drink lid. But real hydration doesn't work that way. At your desk, you want a straw. On a hike, you want to swig. At the gym, straw again. Different moments, different needs.
So we built a lid that does both.
The 2-in-1 lid is the core innovation that caught the judges' attention. One lid. Two drink modes. Fully leakproof in both. You don't carry two caps, you don't compromise — you just drink however feels right in that moment.
The rest of the bottle followed the same logic: triple-layer insulation that keeps drinks cold for 24 hours and hot for 12, a silicone base that won't scratch your desk, a dust-protective straw cap, and a slim profile that actually fits in a bag pocket.
Thoughtful. Functional. A little bit obsessive about the details. That's what won.
What This Means for You
Awards validate. But they don't replace the experience of actually using something.
What we hope the Muse Design Award communicates is simple: someone outside our team looked at the Vic-Wing Bottle and agreed it was built differently.
Not louder. Not flashier. Just more considered.
We make water bottles for people who think a little differently about how they live — people who want things that are functional and beautiful, practical and interesting. The award is for them as much as it is for us.
Dare to Be Different
OISIZ started with a belief: that everyday objects don't have to be boring, and that good design shouldn't cost a fortune.
The Vic-Wing Bottle is what happens when you take that belief seriously — when you refuse to ship something just because it's good enough, and keep going until it's actually right.
An award-winning water bottle at $24.99. We think that's pretty different.
